Cinematic mad scientist Werner Herzog (NOSFERATU THE VAMPYRE) interrogates the complex and thorny relationship between religion and media in his seminal 1981 documentary GOD’S ANGRY MAN. The film follows Gene Scott, American minister and televangelist, as he became one of the most prominent faces of televised faith across the 1970s. His charismatic sermons and impassioned pleas for funding made for excellent television, as did his increasingly unhinged demands from patrons as the needs of his congregation grew. GOD’S ANGRY MAN presents a compelling portrait of crumbling ego and desperation by way of the glowing silver screen, luring us in to ponder human nature in classic Herzog fashion.
