Bucking the idea that Texas was a 20th-century cultural wasteland, MADE IN TEXAS is a vintage 1981 program of blistering Austin-made shorts presented by Jonathan Demme (THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS) and produced by AUSTIN CHRONICLE founder Louis Black. From INVASION OF THE ALUMINUM PEOPLE, a Devo-esque, sci-fi-horror freakout, to FAIR SISTERS, a wild girl gang tribute to Demme’s CAGED HEAT, this program serves as a snapshot of Austin’s thriving genre culture and a testament to the city’s creativity and punk energy.

SPEED OF LIGHT (Brian Hansen & Paul Collum, 30 mins)
