Director Bert I. Gordon made his name with larger than life monster films like EMPIRE OF THE ANTS and THE SPIDER, but he reached a new artistic peak with his pivot to grindhouse crime thrillers with his entertainingly wild THE MAD BOMBER. Los Angeles is plunged into chaos when a psychotic criminal (Chuck Connors, SOYLENT GREEN) begins bombing the city. A deranged detective (Vince Edwards, THE KILLING) is brought in to hunt him down, but first he’ll have to catch the only man who’s seen the bomber in person - a serial rapist (Neville Brand, EATEN ALIVE) with no interest in cooperating. Deliriously plotted, coated in grit, and packed to the brim with explosive tension, THE MAD BOMBER is a premiere piece of exploitation cinema from an undersung king of the genre.
